Inspired by You
Q-Leap is an organisation that focuses on the empowerment of youths (fondly called Q-Leapers) regardless of their background and social status. Founded in 2010 (re-branded in 2017), Q-Leap is run by 4 core partners. As Q-Leapers, our focus is on youth empowerment and development.
OUR GOALS
Paying-it-Forward: As Q-Leapers we believe in leaving the world in a better state than we met it and this begins with 'one'. Therefore, we ensure everyone we help is well equipped to help others daily.
Fun fact: The concept Pay-it-Forward was beautifully portrayed in the movie ‘Pay-it-Forward’ by Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt. You impact one life and that life impacts another and it continues until a gusher! Or to hear it eloquently articulated by Kevin Spacey and Haley Joel Osment – please watch this 2min clip (strongly recommended).
OUR STRUCTURE
When people join our organisation, we tell them they are Q-Leapers! There are no official titles. There is no hierarchy, no employee or employer and no internal politics. We are all one! Q-Leapers driving the same goal; which is facilitating the development of the disadvantaged within our community.
As a non-profit organisation, we do not issue shares or bonds to our team. Whilst shares are usually incentives to employees in the private sector, our shares are ‘in kind’. We are all owners of the organisation and our team members are Q-Leapers! The youths we assist are also Q-Leapers! Every one that has ever benefited from our organisation is a Q-Leaper!
Q-Leap means ‘Quantum Leap’. For us, it means an astronomical change of status. It could be a change in employment status through our coaching program, mentorship schemes or from involvement in gangs to becoming a responsible citizen. We train, we impact, and we show that we care! We ensure our vision and strategy is clear and everyone gets to participate and give in their energy! This includes the youths that we work with! We ask them how we can help them. We don’t just throw our ideas on them. We give them challenges in the most fun way they can relate with but at the same time ensure that our values of integrity, honesty and hard work are maintained. We encourage our Q-Leapers to start their own business or run their companies, even if it is similar to ours! We even provide the seed investment where possible.
Some call our leadership/management strategy odd and perhaps it is, but it works for us! Q-Leap is owned by every Q-Leaper and the success of Q-Leap is tantamount to the success of each individual. As each Q-Leaper grows, the organisation grows! This is how we have lasted for the past ten years and counting. Our investment has genuinely remained people investment!
Note: We sometimes call the leadership team Q-Leaders (rather than Q-Leapers) during events to make it easier to follow.
TESTIMONIALS
Steve
I never liked talking to people especially in networking events. Through the Lunch in the City initiative, I met with professionals in an informal setting and as time went on, I became confident enough to engage people and offer my opinion on topics – thanks to Q-Leap's K-Y-C initiative.

Q-Leap helped me develop the life skills I needed to be a success. They offered many services including career change serminars, CV workshops and help with application forms. I truly enjoyed the peer-peer mentoring offered and through their networks, I was able to secure a job.

I love the transparency and accountability system. As a Q-Leaper mentee, I am fully engaged and informed especially when strategic decisions are being made, I know my opinion counts – I prefer this approach... rather than just been told what to do.
